Add Transitions

Transitions smooth the change from one background segment to the next. Instead of a hard cut, the scene can fade, slide, wipe, or flip into the next one. In Krumzi, transitions live on background segments, so the first thing you need is more than one segment. See "Scenes and Background Segments" if your video is still one long block.

Adding or changing a transition

1. On the timeline, click the transition marker on the background track between two segments, or select a segment and open the Transition panel from the side navigation.

2. Pick a style from the grid. Each tile previews the effect.

3. For styles that have a direction (Slide, Wipe, and friends), choose Left, Right, Up, or Down.

4. Set the Duration in seconds. It's capped by the length of the segment so a transition can never swallow the whole scene.

Choose None for a hard cut.

Available transitions

• Fade. The old background dissolves into the new one. Works everywhere.

• Slide. The new background pushes in from a direction.

• Wipe. An edge sweeps across the screen revealing the new background.

• Flip. The scene flips over like a card.

• Rectangle Mask. The new background grows in from a rectangle.

How long should a transition be?

Around half a second is a good default for social video. Shorter feels snappy and works for fast-paced content. Longer (a second or more) feels cinematic and suits slower, calmer edits. Whatever you pick, keep it consistent within a video.

Transitions and elements

A transition only affects the background. Elements keep their own timing and their own entry and exit animations. If you want a headline to leave as the scene changes, give it an exit animation that ends where the segment ends. Elements that span the boundary simply stay on screen while the background changes underneath them.

Timing transitions to music

Add your track first, then split segments where you see hits in the waveform (drag the playhead there and press S). Because the transition plays at the segment boundary, the visual change lands right on the beat.

Ask the AI

The AI chat in the editor can set transitions on every segment at once: "fade between all scenes" or "wipe left, 0.4 seconds, on every cut". It's the fastest way to make a whole video consistent.

Tips

• One transition style per video. Mixing several looks accidental.

• Fade is the safe choice. It never feels out of place.

• Don't transition every cut. A clean hard cut is often stronger, especially in fast content.

• Preview at full speed. Transitions that look fine while scrubbing can drag during real playback.
