Navigate the Canvas

Zoom, select, move, resize, and rotate elements on the Krumzi image editor canvas, and understand the panels around it.

The canvas is where your design lives. Whether you opened an AI-generated design or a blank one, everything you see there is a real, editable element. Here's how to get around it fast.

The editor layout

  • Header (top). Click the project title to rename it (Enter saves, Esc cancels). Next to it you'll see the live save status (Saved, Saving…, or Save failed), a chip with your canvas size, undo and redo buttons, a toggle for the AI designer chat, and the Export button.

  • Side panel (left). Tabs for Design (properties of the selected element), Uploads, Media Generator (AI images), Assets (text, stock photos and videos, emoji, shapes, counters, QR codes, annotations, meme templates), Brand Kit, and Background.

  • Canvas (center). Your design at its real dimensions, scaled to fit the window.

  • AI chat (right, optional). Toggle it from the header to keep refining the design in plain language while you edit by hand.

Zooming

Hold Cmd (Mac) or Ctrl (Windows) and scroll to zoom in or out. You can go from 25% up to 400%. When you're not at 100%, a small chip shows the current zoom level. Click it to reset.

The canvas size itself is fixed once a design exists. You pick the format (Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, custom dimensions and more) when you create the design in the AI Designer.

Selecting elements

Click any element to select it. You'll see a bounding box with resize handles, a rotation handle, and the Design panel switches to that element's properties. Click empty canvas or press Esc to deselect. Press Tab to jump to the next element and Shift + Tab to go back, which is handy when a small element is hiding behind a big one.

Right-click an element for a context menu with quick alignment (Center, Left, Right, Top, Bottom), Bring to Front and Send to Back, and for images, Fit Canvas and Fill Canvas.

Moving elements

  • Drag the element anywhere on the canvas.

  • Arrow keys nudge it 1 px at a time. Hold Shift for 10 px steps.

  • As you drag, smart guides light up when your element lines up with another element's edges or center, or with the canvas edges and center. It snaps into place so you don't have to eyeball it.

Resizing and rotating

  • Corner handles resize while keeping the aspect ratio.

  • Side handles stretch width or height only. Text reflows inside its box; images, emojis and QR codes stay locked to their proportions.

  • Drag the rotation handle to tilt an element. It snaps near common angles, and you can type an exact value in the Design panel's Tilt field.

Layers

Elements stack in the order they were added. Use Cmd/Ctrl + ] to bring the selected element forward one step and Cmd/Ctrl + [ to send it back, or use Bring to Front / Send to Back from the right-click menu.

Autosave

You don't need to save. Every change is written a couple of seconds after you stop editing, and the header tells you where things stand. If you ever see "Save failed", check your connection; your last saved version is safe.

Tips

  • Zoom in to check small text and alignment before you export.

  • Use Tab to cycle through elements instead of hunting for tiny ones with the mouse.

  • Prefer talking over clicking? Open the AI chat and say "move the headline up and make it bigger."
