Design Looks Different Than Expected

Why an AI-generated design might miss the mark, and the fastest ways to steer Krumzi toward what you had in mind.

The AI made something, but it isn't what you pictured. That's normal, and it's usually a two-minute fix. Here's why it happens and how to close the gap.

Common causes

The prompt left too much open

"Make me a post about our sale" forces the AI to guess the platform, the headline, the mood, the colors, and the call to action. The more it guesses, the further it drifts.

Fix: say the format, the exact text that must appear, the mood, and the goal. "Square Instagram post. Headline: 30% off everything this weekend. Bold, energetic, our brand colors. Button text: Shop now."

Brand Kit or Brand Mind isn't set up (or was turned off)

Without a Brand Kit (Pro and Ultra) and a Brand Mind, the AI picks its own colors, fonts, and voice. There's also a Brand Kit toggle in the chat that includes or excludes your brand for a single message.

Fix: build your Brand Mind from the sidebar, add logos, colors, and fonts to Brand Kit, and make sure the toggle is on. Add custom instructions to Brand Mind for anything the AI should always respect ("never use gradients", "always British spelling").

Different models, different taste

Krumzi lets you choose the AI model. Each has its own tendencies, and heavier models generally handle complex briefs better.

Fix: switch models from the picker in the chat and try again, or turn on Think for a harder brief. Check your default model in Settings β†’ AI.

The AI didn't have the assets

If you wanted your product photo or a specific image, the AI can't invent it.

Fix: attach images to your message and the AI can place them on the canvas. Paste a product or article URL and it can pull the real images from that page instead of generating new ones.

Steer it, don't start over

Keep chatting. Every message edits the live design, so "make the headline bigger", "move the logo bottom-right", "swap the photo for something warmer" all work. After a follow-up, changed elements show a dashed outline with keep/discard controls, so you can accept the good and undo the rest.

Restarting from scratch costs more credits than refining, because the AI has to redo everything.

Or fix it by hand

Everything the AI makes is fully editable. Drag, resize, change fonts and colors, swap images, remove a background, or generate a new AI image, right in the editor. For small tweaks it's often quicker than another round of chat, and manual edits are free.

Something looks broken, not just different?

Overlapping text, cut-off elements, or an empty canvas aren't taste issues; they're bugs, and we want to know. Use the thumbs-down when the chat asks you to rate the result and tell us what went wrong, or email hello@krumzi.com with a screenshot and the prompt you used.

Tips

  • Attach a reference image and say "match this style". It's the fastest way to communicate mood.

  • Give the AI your real copy. Placeholder text produces placeholder-looking designs.

  • Rate designs when prompted. It genuinely improves the AI over time.
