Add Animations

Give any element an entry and exit animation in the video editor, from a simple fade to word-by-word text reveals.

Animations are how elements enter and leave your video. Instead of appearing and vanishing, a headline can drop in word by word, a product image can zoom in, and a call to action can slide off screen. Every element in the video editor can have one entry animation and one exit animation.

Applying an animation

  1. Select an element on the canvas or on the timeline.

  2. Open the Animations panel from the side navigation.

  3. Switch between the Entry and Exit tabs.

  4. Click a preset. Each one shows a live preview, and the change applies immediately.

Choose None to remove an animation.

Entry animations

Available for all element types: Fade In, Zoom In, Shrink, Slide, Bounce, Tada, Jello, Blink, Swing, Elastic Snap, and Flip.

Text elements get extra options built for words and letters: Typing, Word Drop, Reveal, Swift Unveil, Wave, Blur Reveal, and Character Grow. These are what give short-form videos that "kinetic typography" feel.

Exit animations

Fade Out, Zoom Out, Grow, Slide, Flip, Bounce, and, for text, Wipe.

Timing

An entry animation plays at the start of the element's bar on the timeline. An exit animation plays at the end. So to control when an animation happens, drag the element's bar (or its trim handles) on the timeline. Staggering start times a fraction of a second apart is how you get elements to arrive one after another.

Want to fine-tune duration or direction (slide from the left instead of the right, a longer fade)? Ask the AI chat in the editor. It can set animation timing and direction on any element, and the result stays fully editable.

Combining animations well

  • Stagger. Headline first, subheading half a second later, image after that.

  • Stay consistent. Pick two or three animation types for a video and reuse them. Ten different entrances feel chaotic.

  • Match the mood. Fade and Blur Reveal are calm. Bounce, Tada, and Elastic Snap are playful. Typing and Word Drop suit talking-head or quote videos.

  • Use exits sparingly. Most elements can simply end. Save exits for moments where a clean hand-off matters.

Animations vs. transitions

Animations belong to individual elements. Transitions belong to background segments and play as the background changes from one segment to the next. If you want the whole scene to change, you want a transition. If you want one thing to arrive or leave, you want an animation.

Tips

  • Give every text element an entry animation. Text that fades or drops in looks finished. Text that just appears looks unfinished.

  • Preview at full speed with Space. Scrubbing hides how quick an animation actually feels.

  • When you generate a video with the AI Designer, animations are already applied. Use this panel to adjust rather than start from zero.
