Generate AI images and remove backgrounds

Create custom images from a text prompt (5 credits each) and cut backgrounds out of any image (5 credits), from the editor or by asking the AI.

When stock photos don't cut it, generate exactly the picture you need from a description. And when a photo has a background you don't want, remove it in one click. Both are flat-priced: 5 credits per generated image and 5 credits per background removal. If an operation fails, you're not charged.

Generate an image in the editor

  1. Open a design and click Media Generator in the side rail.

  2. Describe the image. Be concrete about subject, setting, and lighting: "a golden retriever playing fetch in a park, cinematic lighting" beats "a dog".

  3. Pick an aspect ratio: 1:1 square, 4:5 portrait, 16:9 landscape, 9:16 story, 3:4 photo, or 4:3 wide. Match it to where the image will sit on your canvas.

  4. Optionally switch on Remove background to get a transparent PNG straight away. This adds the background-removal charge, and the button shows the total before you commit.

  5. Click Generate. The finished image is added to your canvas as an image element.

Ultra plans use an upgraded image model for higher-quality generations.

Or just ask the AI

In the AI Designer or the editor chat, say what you want: "generate a flat-lay photo of a matcha latte for the background" or "make me three product-shot style images of a candle and place them in a row". The AI can generate up to three images in one step, sizes them for the layout, and adds them to the design. Each successful image costs 5 credits; failed ones cost nothing.

If you're repurposing an article or web page, the AI prefers to pull the page's real images rather than generate new ones, so you get authentic visuals without spending credits.

Remove a background from an existing image

  1. Select the image element on the canvas. This works for uploads, stock photos, and generated images alike.

  2. Click Remove Background (the magic-wand icon) in the element's toolbar.

  3. Wait a moment. The element is replaced with a transparent cutout in the same spot and size.

Manual background removal in the editor toolbar is available on Pro and Ultra. Prefer to delegate? Tell the AI: "cut out the background on the product photo" and it runs the same removal for you.

What background removal is good for

  • Putting a product or a person on a brand-colored or gradient background.

  • Layering a cutout over text for a magazine-style depth effect.

  • Cleaning up a logo that came with a white box baked in.

Cutouts are regular image elements, so you can add a shadow or glow, mask them into a circle or blob, or set a border afterwards.

Prompting tips for better images

  • Name the style: "studio product photo", "watercolor illustration", "3D render", "flat vector".

  • Say what's in the frame and what isn't. "No text" and "no people" are worth spelling out.

  • Mention lighting and mood: "soft morning light", "moody, high contrast".

  • Generate at the aspect ratio you'll use. Cropping a square into a story shot wastes most of the pixels.

  • Per-brand AI settings include an image-generation gate, so you can stop the AI from generating images on its own if you'd rather approve each one.
