Scenes and Background Segments

A Krumzi video doesn't have separate slides or scenes you jump between. Instead, the background track on the timeline is divided into segments. Each segment covers a stretch of time, has its own background, and has a transition that plays as it hands off to the next one. That's how you build a "scene 1, scene 2, scene 3" video while keeping every element on one continuous timeline.

Why segments instead of scenes

Because your elements aren't locked inside a scene. A logo can sit in the corner across the whole video, a headline can span two segments, and a caption track can run underneath everything. You decide where the background changes, and you decide separately how long each element lives.

Splitting a segment

1. Drag the playhead to the moment you want the new segment to start.

2. Press S, or click the split button in the timeline toolbar. You can also right-click the segment on the background track and choose Split at Playhead.

3. The segment splits in two at the playhead. Both halves keep the original background until you change one.

Splits need at least a second on either side of the playhead, so you can't create a segment shorter than that.

Styling a segment

Click a segment on the background track to select it, then open the Background panel. You get the same background controls as everywhere else in Krumzi: solid, gradient, or mesh gradient (with an Animate toggle for a slowly moving mesh in video), plus overlays such as grain, vignette, halftone, dots, grid, and paper, and dual-tone treatments. If you have a brand kit, a Brand row of presets is generated from your brand colors.

Want footage instead of a color? Add a stock or uploaded video element, stretch it to fill the canvas, and send it to the back. Time its bar to match the segment.

Adjusting length and order

• Drag the boundary between two segments to make one longer and the other shorter.

• Right-click a segment and choose Delete to remove it. The neighbouring segments close the gap.

Transitions between segments

Every segment carries a transition that plays as it changes into the next one. Click the transition marker on the background track (or open the Transition panel with a segment selected) to pick a style and duration. "Add Transitions" covers the options.

Let the AI do the cutting

Segments are fully reachable from the AI chat inside the editor. Ask for "three scenes: intro, product shot, CTA" or "split the background every 2 seconds and alternate brand colors" and the AI splits, restyles, and sets transitions for you. You can still drag everything afterwards.

Tips

• Match segment boundaries to your audio. Drag the playhead to a hit in the waveform, then press S.

• Keep the number of background changes low. Two or three well-placed shifts feel deliberate. Ten feel like a slideshow.

• Use the same transition style across a video unless a change is doing something on purpose.
